2021 Virtual Spring Academic Conference
Saturday, April 17, 2021, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EDT
Category: Kentucky Psychological Science Conference

The Kentucky Psychological Foundation presents

Whether to prepare for graduate school in psychology or to leverage their psychology knowledge and skill, this conference provides a unique opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students. This year, undergraduates will be able to present their research in juried competitions while graduate students will be in leadership and mentoring roles. All attendees will attend valuable workshops, develop practical skills, and network with fellow students and faculty from across Kentucky.

This year's virtual conference, Community Healing: Using Psychology to Move Us Forward, will feature workshops highlighting psychology's unique position to address racial injustices and adapt to global changes such as the coronavirus pandemic.

Students are encouraged to nominate a faculty member or Graduate Student as an Outstanding Mentor. Faculty members are invited to participate in the Conference as judges and mentors. Undergraduate students have the opportunity to talk with graduate students about "how to get into graduate school," and graduate students may also serve as judges for competitions.

All student posters will be judged prior to the conference. Up to 12 student posters will be invited to present their work virtually at the conference and winners will be selected from that group. We added an Emerging Research Category this year. The emerging research category is meant to allow undergraduates to submit in-progress research, as we know some data collection is incomplete by our required submission deadline. Emerging Researchers will upload a poster with their research proposal (i.e., research question, literature review, proposed methodology, and discussion of anticipated results) along with a 3-5 minute presentation. Emerging research will receive feedback, and one student will be named as the Emerging Research winner.

NEW in 2021: SAC Family Feud: Two “families” (Faculty vs Grad Students) will battle it out in an entertaining and fun game, where players try to guess the most popular responses to a psychology survey. Come see who will be victorious in the first-ever SAC Family Feud!
