Job Description: The Bellarmine University Student Counseling Center (http://www.bellarmine.edu/studentaffairs/counselingcenter/) invites applications for an Assistant Director/Staff Psychologist with an anticipated start date of January 3, 2020. The successful candidate will provide an array of mental health services to Bellarmine students; act as a resource for parents, faculty, and administration; and assist Director in the management of Counseling Center. This position is full-time (40 hours per week), with some evenings and weekend work required.

 

Duties include:
•Provide direct mental health services to students at Bellarmine University, including short-term psychotherapy, crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, and referral.
•Complete administrative duties (case notes, review of supervisee notes and video, program planning, triage coverage, review of reports, report writing, etc.).
•Conduct outreach education and programs with various student groups (RA training, sexual assault prevention, student orientation, etc.).
•Provide consultation to university community including faculty, staff, students and parents.
•Provide clinical supervision and training to practicum students.
•Coordinate practicum training program.
•Provide after-hours crisis intervention as a part of on-call rotation.
•Assist with program development and evaluation.
•Assist with strategic planning and outcome assessment.
•Provide administrative oversight of Center in absence of Director.
•Serve on university committees or projects as assigned.

 

Requirements:
•Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology
•Licensed or license eligible as psychologist in the Commonwealth of Kentucky
•At least one year of full-time professional experience providing direct mental health services in university/college counseling center; must be generalist with clinical competence in psychological assessment, short-term psychotherapy, treatment of anxiety and depression, and trauma-informed interventions.
•Must have experience with culturally diverse populations and commitment to social justice.
•Preference for individual with professional experience and interest in trauma, sexual assault, eating disorders/body image, group therapy, and clinical supervision.

Applicants should have teaching and research interests in Clinical/Counseling or General Experimental Psychology. A strong commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts and sciences environment is essential. Teaching expectations include courses in introductory psychology, learning, and other undergraduate psychology courses (preferred courses include abnormal psychology, multicultural psychology, personality, and life-span development). The successful applicant will be expected to actively mentor undergraduate students. The teaching load is 21 credit hours over 2 semesters, which is typically 7 courses per academic year.
