Classified Title Director of Spalding University Center for Behavioral Health
Classified Description

The School of Professional Psychology (SOPP) at Spalding University is seeking a psychologist to serve as the Director of The Center for Behavioral Health, which opened in fall of 2015. The position will be a full-time, non-tenure-track position.

Spalding University was founded in 1814 to provide quality education, particularly serving first-generation college students. Our vibrant university mission is built around creating a diverse community of learners committed to meeting the needs of our time through the promotion of peace and justice. We offer a Psy.D. in clinical psychology and have been fully accredited by APA since 1989. Our last APA accreditation review resulted in a seven-year accreditation decision. Our program is a scholar-practitioner model that offers generalist training with outstanding practicum and coursework opportunities for specialization.

In both 2012 and 2016, we applied for and received a $2.6 million dollar HRSA grant to help decrease student tuition costs for disadvantaged and diverse students. A key reason that we were awarded this grant is that more than 50% of our alumni are working with underserved individuals or in underserved areas. We are strongly committed to attracting and supporting students who represent diversity and are underrepresented in the field of psychology. A strength of our university is its location in downtown Louisville, which allows our students a wide variety of practicum experiences working with traditionally marginalized individuals.

We are seeking a candidate with expertise in training doctoral-level graduate students in clinical psychology and experience as a clinical supervisor. The position requires licensure (or license eligibility) as a psychologist in Kentucky, a doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program (with an APA accredited internship preferred), and at least 3 years of experience as a clinician. Previous experience in program development, budgeting, grant-writing, fundraising, and clinic administration are desired but not required. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to diversity by participation in University events supporting diversity and effectively interact with the diverse population of clients, students, and faculty. The Director will work closely with the Chair of the School of Professional Psychology and program faculty.

Specific job responsibilities for the Clinic Director position will include:

1) Ensure that quality psychological services are being delivered in a caring and compassionate manner

2) Development and implementation of clinic policies and procedures

3) Management (in collaboration with the Chair of the SOPP) of a budget

4) Development of referral pathways and community partners

5) Staffing of cases

6) Direct clinical supervision of doctoral students

7) Supervision of clinic administrative assistant and graduate assistants

8) Ensure compliance with regulations governing the delivery of psychological services in Kentucky

9) Prepare quarterly reports reflecting number of clients served, budget overview, and overall clinic functioning

10) Create and deliver periodic reports to the Chair, faculty, and administration regarding clinic functioning
