Eastern State Hospital is seeking to fill two full time Staff Psychologist positions. Eastern State Hospital (ESH) is a 190-bed state psychiatric hospital that serves 50 counties surrounding Lexington, Kentucky that is managed by University of Kentucky Healthcare. We provide inpatient treatment for adults diagnosed with a variety of mental health issues. ESH is the second oldest and longest continually operating state psychiatric hospital in the nation. We currently have six units in operation which include a medically acute unit, two single gender units (one male, one female), and three general acuity units. Eastern State employs a variety of therapeutic modalities including psychotherapy, occupational and physical therapy, pastoral care, peer support, behavioral analysis, in addition to music, art, and recreation therapy. Psychology services will include short and long-term intervention, focal suicide intervention, diagnostic and forensic evaluations for adults with severe and persistent mental illness and their families. In addition to clinical opportunities, psychologists provide routine screening/follow-up of patients through interdisciplinary care planning, consultation with care teams, supervision of pre-doctoral practicum students and post-doctoral fellows, and participation in quality care improvement projects. Our current team consists of seven full time psychologist positions, one licensed psychological practitioner, two post-doctoral fellows, three pre-doctoral practicum students, and one chaplain. The University of Kentucky/Eastern State Hospital has an exceptional benefits package.
