Classified Title

Child and Adult Neuropsychologist Needed

Classified Description

Edelson & Associates, located in Louisville, KY, has long been one of Kentucky’s largest providers of neuropsychological evaluations. We have recently altered our management structure, allowing us to offer more benefits to the staff. These include health insurance, paid vacations and holidays, and sick leave. In addition, we have worked with the insurance companies that we provide services for and have successfully transitioned from the 2018 testing codes to the new ones. Billing and collections are handled by the Administrative Staff, allowing clinicians to devote their time to patients, not to insurance claims. Moreover, our group has always paid staff for hours billed, not the percentage of bills collected, and we continue to do so. This guarantees both predictability, as well as stability of income. Edelson & Associates presently finds itself in a situation in which we have an increasing number of referrals for testing and need clinicians to provide these services. As such, we hope to hire psychologists who enjoy assessment to join either our Child or Adult Departments and become part of our team of 14 clinicians and seven administrative staff. Additionally, this practice is also receiving increased referrals for testing from Lexington, KY. We are exploring the concept of establishing an office there, as well.

Spalding University was founded in 1814 to provide quality education, and our vibrant university mission is built around creating a diverse community of learners committed to meeting the needs of our time through the promotion of peace and justice. We offer a B.A. in Psychology and a Psy.D. in clinical psychology (which has been fully accredited by APA since 1989). Our doctoral program is a scholar-practitioner model that offers generalist training with outstanding practicum and coursework opportunities for specialization. In 2012, and again in 2016, we applied for and received a $2.6 million dollar HRSA scholarship grant to help decrease student tuition costs for disadvantaged and diverse students. A key reason that we were awarded this grant is that more than 50% of our doctoral alumni are working with underserved individuals or in under-served areas. We are strongly committed to attracting and supporting students who represent diversity and are underrepresented in the field of psychology. A strength of our university is its location in downtown Louisville, which allows our students a wide variety of practicum experiences working with traditionally marginalized individuals. Qualifications we are seeking a candidate with an interest in teaching both undergraduate and doctoral courses. Successful candidates will evidence three areas of expertise in equal balance. First, they will be strong teachers who utilize best practices in teaching and enjoy student mentoring. Second, they will be thoughtful scholars with a record of presenting and/or publishing in their chosen research interest areas. Third, they will possess a cooperative spirit and work well with others on university and department service committees. Individuals who represent diversity and/or have experience in multicultural psychology are particularly encouraged to apply. Our open position is at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank, depending on experience. The position offers scheduling flexibility (other than class times) and faculty members are encouraged to use up to eight hours per week in research, consultation, direct service (e.g. private practice) and/or supervision. Contract supervision for doctoral students on practicum placements may be available. Spalding University is an Equal Employment Opportunity/ Affirmative Action employer.
