Understanding Racial Trauma: Assessment and Treatment

Persons of color often experience racial trauma due to consistent exposure to racism and/or discrimination. This exposure can lead to feelings such as sadness, anxiety, worry, anger, frustration, and hopelessness. The experience of these feelings can contribute to difficulties in relationships with friends and families, challenges on the job, and a general lack of mental wellness. This presentation will highlight the clinical work and scholarship that is being conducted across the state to address the impact of racial trauma and race-related stress.
