This training course aims to increase attendees’ professional knowledge of domestic violence and its effects on mental health. Attendees will be provided an overview of research and best practices around domestic violence aiming to increase balanced clinical judgementAttendees will be better prepared to utilize the research and best practices around domestic violence to assess lethality factors and provide appropriate interventions for those exposed to intimate partner violence. Attendees will be better prepared to utilize the research and best practices around domestic violence to assess lethality factors and provide appropriate interventions for those exposed to intimate partner violence. This workshop fulfills the KRS 194A.540 requirement for domestic violence and elder abuse training. Skill level: Intermediate

Workshop Objectives

Based on the content of this workshop, attendees will be able to...

  • Identify the effects of domestic violence on adult and child victims.
  • Assess lethality and risk for those exposed to domestic violence
  • Utilize skills from evidence-based treatment approaches for those who've experienced domestic violence - speaker will discuss specific therapeutic interventions designed to target the aftereffects of intimate partner violence.
  • Utilize and access community resources and victim services available

 

 About the Presenter

Dr. Brooke Jacobs is a certified domestic violence advocate and the owner of Delve, an organizational wellness agency specializing in creating and maintaining psychologically safe environments. With over a decade of experience as a trauma treatment service provider, she facilitates trainings and creates programs focused on reducing secondary traumatic stress, burnout, and turnover. Dr. Jacobs combines her expertise in clinical psychology with her passion for fostering resilient organizations through assessing and improving workplace culture.

CE Credits/Attendance:
It is important to note that APA continuing education rules require that KPA only give credit to those who attend the entire workshop.  An evaluation of the workshop must be completed. Those who login more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time or leave before the workshop is completed will not receive CE credit. Partial credit may not be given.

This program is approved for 3.0 CE hours by the Kentucky Psychological Association.
