Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology (KBEP) – Board Nominations

Availability to Serve on the KY Board of Examiners of Psychology:

Licensed Doctoral-Level Position

POSITION: The term of Emily Skaggs, Psy.D., representing licensed doctoral-level psychologists on the Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology (KBEP) expires on March 11, 2026. The term of office is four (4) years, with a maximum of two (2) consecutive terms.


ELIGIBILITY: In order to nominate yourself for this position, you must:


  1. Be an individual currently licensed at the doctoral level according to the provisions of KRS Chapter 319
  2. Be a resident of this state (Kentucky)
  3. Have engaged in the practice or teaching of psychology as a licensed psychologist for at least three years in this state (KY) after licensure.

DUTIES of BOARD MEMBERS

  • Participate in monthly meetings and on various committees, which require additional meeting time.
  • Oversee licensing of practitioners, draft and implement administrative regulations, rule on possible violations of the licensing law. Board members are expected to attend monthly working meetings in Frankfort (6-8 hours) and complete other board-related duties such as giving exams which may take one other day per month, as well as some between-meetings work which may be performed remotely.
  • Travel expenses are reimbursed at the state rate. Members are paid a small fee for participation in meetings and other Board functions.

Election Process

The Governor’s Office encourages diversity with consideration of gender, race, and geographic area. Interested and eligible individuals who have been nominated will be listed on a ballot sent to all licensed psychologists. The names of the three individuals with the most votes will then be submitted to the Governor’s office, from which the Governor will make an appointment.
