Samm - UPDATE IMAGE Sarah - Update headers to match color scheme on Convention image Eric - REACH OUT TO DPH TO ASK IF HE WANTS TO INCLUDE A WELCOME BLURB. This year’s convention theme is: “Psychology in a Post*-Pandemic World: Managing Loss, Maintaining Hope, and Finding Meaning.” We’re excited for you to join us for 3 days of learning, community, and celebration! Our programming this year will focus on moving forward during an ongoing pandemic and how we can continue to best serve our communities and help heal one another. As always, there will be opportunities to fulfill domestic violence, suicide prevention, ethics, and advanced supervision CE requirements. We are excited about several keynote sessions including those by Dr. Monnica Williams, Dr. Heather Servaty-Seib, and Dr. Brian McNeil! For those attending in person, please join our wonderful lunch programs to honor our KPA awardees, hear about the work happening at Young Author’s Greenhouse, and network with psychologists from across the state! Our spotlight event is in celebration of KPA’s 90th birthday! Join us for a dinner and celebration on Friday evening. Tickets include dinner, dancing, a souvenir gift, and a chance to win a special door prize! With all of this happening, you may also note that the fees are a little higher than they have been in the past and we wanted to make sure you understood the reasoning behind the change. There are two main factors driving the increase. First, audio/visual costs for a hybrid are considerably higher than an exclusively in person or virtual event. We are working with the hotel to ensure a smooth experience for virtual attendees and are configuring our Whova convention app so that all participants can fully engage in our event. The expenses related to ensuring a smooth event and to have staff available to help us troubleshoot is much higher than expenses we incurred when hosting a solely in-person event.Second, as you all are aware, costs for everything associated with the convention are higher. Our food and beverage costs at the hotel are higher with steeper penalties for canceling even 6 months out. We are happy that we will be able to validate parking at the Seelbach so we hope that helps with the cost for our in person attendees. We are also seeing increased fees for our featured speakers and higher travel costs for the speakers we are bringing in-person. We have a truly outstanding lineup of speakers this year and are confident you will see that they are worth it!We appreciate the challenges we are all facing with the costs of so many things rising. We want to continue to put on a national quality program here in Kentucky and thank you for support of KPA and our convention! We are all looking forward to welcoming you in November with a handshake, a fist bump, or a hug in-person or a wave via Zoom!Thank you,Aesha L. Uqdah, Psy.D., H.S.P.P.
