KPA Member Town Hall - Updates to Master’s Licensure in Kentucky: Aligning with National Trends

KPA will discuss plans to align our Licensed Psychological Association licensure path with emerging national standards. We will provide updates from APA work toward national Master’s licensure and discuss KPA’s legislative plans for 2024. Panelists will also provide ample time for questions and open discussion. Panelists:
Dr. Eric Russ serves as the Executive Director of the Kentucky Psychological Association and is serving an elected term on the American Psychological Association Policy and Planning Board.  is an organizational consultant and licensed psychologist in Louisville, KY with a background in leadership and leadership development in academic, healthcare, and corporate settings. He has a passion for helping organizations create psychologically healthy environments with a resilient and engaged workforce. He is available for consultation with individuals needing executive coaching and organizations looking to build a thriving workplace. 

 

 Mrs. Sarah Nolan, M.A. serves as KPAs Masters Representative and a Licensed Psychological Practitioner currently working at a designated rape crisis center in central Kentucky as a Therapist. Mrs. Nolan completed her graduate education and training from Murray State University in May 2011 and obtained independent licensure in July 2018. Mrs. Nolan specializes in trauma-informed evidenced based practices to treat sexual violence, dissociation, anxiety, problems with emotional expression, and shame. In November 2021, Mrs. Nolan began volunteering for the State Board of Examiners of Psychology to assist with oral examinations. When not working, Mrs. Nolan enjoys spending time with family, listening to alternative/rock music, rooting for UK Athletics, and indulging her appetite at local eateries. 

Dr. Kari Jones serves as KPAs Secretary and graduated in 2008 from Morehead State University with a Master's in Clinical Psychology and went on to complete her Doctorate of Psychology from Spalding University in 2014 following the completion of a predoctoral internship at the Lexington VAMC. She has worked in a multidisciplinary group practice, in post-acute care, and now owns a private practice in eastern Kentucky where she utilizes individual psychotherapy and psychological assessment services. Additionally, she serves as supervisor of record for master's level clinicians. She has served in an adjunct faculty role at the University of Kentucky Counseling Psychology Ph.D. program since 2019, teaching courses in cognitive assessment, psychopathology & diagnosis, and counseling skills. Dr. Jones is also a married mother of two young children who keep her busy with their sports & activities!
