Workshop 1: #MeToo and other Social Movements: Creating a Culture of Gender Justice Offline and Online, 3 CE
Presented by Tammy Hatfield, Psy.D.

This three-hour workshop will provide an opportunity to discuss the current status of girls and women, review local, national, and international research focused on gender inequity, and explore ways to create a culture of gender justice. During our time together, we will examine recent research, from an intersectional lens, related to digital gender-based violence against women, consider why gender stereotyping is harmful to all genders, discuss modern slavery, explore the experience of rural women, and highlight social media movements to end discrimination and violence against girls and women.. Skill Level: Intermediate

Workshop 1: Objectives
At the completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• List at least two reasons why gender stereotyping is harmful to all genders.
• Discuss at least one way in which digital gender-based violence against women has a silencing effect
• Identify at least two reported psychological symptoms of experiencing digital gender-based violence
• Name one or more way(s) to work toward the creation of gender justice

 About the Presenter:

Tammy Hatfield, Psy.D. is a Professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of the Cumberlands. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Kentucky, an M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Murray State University, and a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Spalding University in 2002. She completed an APA accredited predoctoral internship at Ball State University’s counseling center. Dr. Hatfield’s clinical experiences include practice in university counseling centers, women’s centers, community mental health centers, residential treatment facilities, and independent clinical practice. Dr. Hatfield’s areas of expertise and research interest include intersectionality of social identities, treatment of trauma survivors, sexual violence prevention, feminist therapy, individual and cultural diversity, identity development, ally development, gender studies, suicide prevention, psychological assessment, and Appalachian culture.

Workshop 2: School Refusal: Children Who Can't or Won't Go to School, 3 CE
Presented by George B. Haarman, Psy.D., LMFT

The seminar will break down the distinction between truancy and school refusal. Completing the seminar will assist you in performing a functional analysis of school refusal to determine the motivation and particular reinforcement systems that support the behavior. Skill Level: Beginning

Workshop 2: Objectives

At the completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Identify the unique behavioral and clinical features of school-refusing children.
• Discuss the difference between truancy and school refusal.
• Describe psychological disorders that may underlie school refusal
• Explain individual, family, and pharmacological treatment approaches to school refusal.
• Identify the four types of school refusers.

 About the Presenter:

George B. Haarman, Psy.D., LMFT, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist currently in private practice. He received his doctorate in clinical psychology from Spalding University and is a member of the American Psychological Association. Dr. Haarman has been an instructor at Jefferson Community College, Bellarmine University, and Spalding University. He has presented seminars regionally and nationally on psychopathology, depression, and emotional disorders in children and adolescents. His prior experience includes working with youth detention centers, juvenile group homes, child protective services, and juvenile probation. Dr. Haarman has recently published a book on this issue, School Refusal: Childen Who Can't or Won't Go to School. Other publications include: Mastering DSM-5 and Clinical Supervision: Legal, Ethical, and Risk Management Issues

It is important to note that APA continuing education rules require that KPA only give credit to those who attend the entire workshop.  An evaluation of the workshop must be completed. Those who arrive more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time or leave before the workshop is complete will not receive CE credit. Partial credit may not be given.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received on/before February 7, 2019, will receive a 90% refund. Cancellations received between February 8 and February 11, 2019, will receive a 50% refund and cancellations between February 12 and February 14, 2019, will receive a 20% refund.
