New Domestic Violence Laws: What every Kentucky mental health provider needs to know...Workshop Details Presented by David Hanna, Ph.D. This workshop will meet the requirements of KRS 194A.540 requiring training on domestic violence and elder abuse and will cover the dynamics of each, risk factors, treatment considerations, and legal aspects. This workshop will provide a critical overview of the mandated reporting and other changes to the law passed by the 2017 General Assembly and is approved for Psychologists, Social Workers, Art Therapists, and Licensed Professional Counselors. About the Presenter: Dr. David Hanna is a licensed clinical psychologist and since January, 2015 a behavior health program manager with Passport Health Plan. Previously, he worked in community mental health settings including 27 years for Bluegrass.org, which serves the 17 counties of the Central Kentucky Bluegrass region. Prior to his retirement from Bluegrass in August 2014, he held a variety of positions including service area manager, director of quality assurance, and chief clinical officer. From January, 2013 through April, 2014, he was the Interim CEO. Dr. Hanna has had broad clinical practice in community settings including services to perpetrators and victims of violence. In 2012, he received the American Psychological Association’s Heiser Award for Advocacy and in 2013 was named the Psychologist of the Year by the Kentucky Psychological Association. Dr. Hanna received his bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University and his M. S. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Kentucky. He completed a post-doc in developmental disabilities at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. There will be no onsite registration available for this workshop. Event Location It is important to note that APA continuing education rules require that KPA only give credit to those who attend the entire workshop. An evaluation of the workshop must be completed. Those who arrive more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time or leave before the workshop is complete will not receive CE credit. Partial credit may not be given.
