This workshop will provide an update on evidence-based treatments for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and will highlight the research behind treatments that do not require a retelling of the trauma memory. An overview of Cognitive Processing Therapy will be included, focusing on the extensive applications to diverse populations. Skill Level: Beginning

Workshop Objectives

Based on the content of this workshop, attendees will be able to:

  • Summarize the most up-to-date research on PTSD
  • Discuss how different treatments can be effective for clients who do not want to talk about their traumatic events.
  • Summarize how Cognitive Processing Therapy can be applied for their clients who have PTSD

 Audience

The presentation is intended for mental health, health, and public health professionals and students, as well as for professionals in related fields and for consumers, family members, and advocates interested in influencing public policy. The information gained is applicable across settings, as advocacy is a useful tool to understand and master, regardless of the specific focus of personal and professional activities and interests.

Event Location

This event will be held at Bellarmine University located at 2001 Newburg Road Louisville, KY 40205. For more information about this location, including parking information and directions click here

  • There are multiple lots available for parking: Centro Lot (L6) is the most convenient and recommended for those needing to avoid stairs or a prolonged walk.  Seibert lot L(7) is the next closest walk if parking in L(6) is unavailable.  Alumni Way Lots L3a or L3b are also available and entail a short walk over to Centro Hall. I've highlighted these locations on this campus parking map. 
  • Hillary's is located on the 1st floor of Centro - when entering attendees will find themselves in a café-like setting, please don't worry, you're in the right place! Staff will be there at the ready to guide you to the event room.  

It is important to note that APA continuing education rules require that KPA only give credit to those who attend the entire workshop.  An evaluation of the workshop must be completed. Those who arrive more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time or leave before the workshop is completed will not receive CE credit. Partial credit may not be given.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received on/before September 11, 2022, will receive a 90% refund. Cancellations received between September 12th - September 15, 2022, will receive a 50% refund.  Cancellations received between September 16th - September 18, 2022, will receive a 20% refund. This program has been approved for 3 CE credits by the Kentucky Psychological Association (KPA).

Social Workers & Art Therapists:
