Workshop 1: Assessment and Treatment of Borderline and Narcissistic Personality Disorders: Empirical Evidence and Clinical Practice, 3 CE

Presented by Eric Russ, Ph.D.

This workshop will review models of understanding and assessing personality pathology with a focus on clinician driven assessment. Current treatment research on and BPD and NPD will be discussed, emphasizing practical clinical tools and strategies to improve your outcomes when working patients living with these conditions. Skill Level: Intermediate 

Workshop Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify current models of understanding for assessing personality pathology
  • Identify empirically supported treatments for BPD and NPD
  • Utilize clinician reactions to patients in assessing and treating personality pathology
  • Apply new clinical tools to your work with BPD and NPD patients

Workshop 2: Application of DBT Skills for Treatment of Narcissistic and Borderline Personality Disorders, 3 CE

Presented by Allyson Bradow, Psy.D. & Amy Taylor, Psy.D.

This presentation will review diagnostic criteria and symptom presentation of Narcissistic and Borderline Personality Disorders. We will present DBT theory, tenets and specific skills modules to focus treatment for respective disorders. Skill Level: Intermediate   

Workshop Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Describe and recognize symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder.
  • Discuss the theory and tenets of DBT.
  • Apply specific skills modules in order to aide in treatment of Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder.

About the Presenters:

Eric Russ, Ph.D.received his doctoral degree from Emory University in 2010. In 2012 he completed a fellowship in Traumatic Stress at Rush University Medical Center. Currently Dr. Russ is the Program Manager for the outpatient PTSD program at the Lexington VA. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor in the University of Louisville Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and has a very small private practice in Louisville.
Allyson Bradow, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist who received her degree from Spalding University. She previously worked at the Home of the Innocents where she served as Clinical Director and founded the Psychological Services and Outpatient Therapy as well as coordinated the practicum and internship programs. Dr. Bradow received training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy from the Dr. Martha Wetter and Cindy Frase, and advanced training with Dr. Charlie Swenson and Dr. Kelly Koerner through the DBT Center San Gabriel and Institute for Girls Development. She is currently in private practice and specializes in treating trauma-and attachment-based disorders utilizing DBT,including individual and skills groups, ACT and Interpersonal approaches. In addition, Dr. Bradow also serves as clinical faculty at Spalding University and teaches PSY 806 – Adult Psychopathology and Psychotherapy: Personality Disorders.
Amy Taylor, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist who received her degree from Spalding University. She completed an internship at the Veteran’s Affairs in Huntington, West Virginia, where she treated individuals who experienced intense anger, trauma, and substance abuse and dependence. She received training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy from the Linehan Institute and specializes in treating trauma-and attachment-based disorders. She co-leads two DBT groups in her private practice and provides therapy in DBT, CBT, and interpersonal therapy on an individual basis

It is important to note that APA continuing education rules require that KPA only give credit to those who attend the entire workshop.  An evaluation of the workshop must be completed. Those who arrive more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time or leave before the workshop is complete will not receive CE credit. Partial credit may not be given.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received on/before September 8, 2017 will receive a 90% refund. Cancellations received between Sept. 9 and Sept. 12, 2017, will receive a 50% refund and cancellations between Sept. 13 and Sept. 14, 2017 will receive a 20% refund.   No refunds available after September 14, 2017. Each of these programs has been approved for 3 CE credits by the Kentucky Psychological Association (KPA).
