Body Embrace: A Revolutionary Approach to Treating Body Image in Severe and Complex Eating Disorders, 3 CE

Negative body image is an elusive target in eating disorder treatment. This workshop provides a comprehensive, phase-based approach to treating body image, moving from Body Tolerance through Body Acceptance into Body Compassion. Attendees will leave with practical tools and creative interventions to address body image in severe and complex eating disorders. Skill Level: Intermediate

Workshop Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Define body image and its role in eating disorders.
  • Describe the limitations of previous body image interventions for severe and complex eating disorders.
  • Apply Body Embrace interventions for treating body image in eating disorders.

About the Presenters:

Dr. Nicole Siegfried is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) and a licensed clinical psychologist. She is the Chief Clinical Officer for Alsana: An Eating Recovery Community. She is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is an international speaker and has published research, magazine articles, and book chapters in the field of eating disorders and suicide. Dr. Siegfried is president of the Alabama Regional Chapter of IAEDP. She is a member of the Academy of Eating Disorders (AED) and Co-Chair of the Eating Disorders and Suicide Prevention AED Special Interest Group.

 

 

 

 

Amber Parris is a licensed clinical social worker and a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS). She is the Senior Director of Clinical Services for the Alsana Birmingham location. In addition to her specialization in eating disorders, Amber has additional training in symptoms of self-harm, suicidality, trauma, and sexual addiction. She has had specialized training and experience in EMDR, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Prolonged Exposure for PTSD. She is a candidate for the Certified Sex Addiction Therapist designation and has a particular interest in issues of intimacy and sexual addiction in eating disorders. She currently serves as Chair of Hospitality for the Alabama Chapter of International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals. Amber is committed to helping clients rediscover their sense of self and reconnect with their values and purpose to drive them towards recovery.

It is important to note that APA continuing education rules require that KPA only give credit to those who attend the entire workshop.  An evaluation of the workshop must be completed. Those who arrive more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time or leave before the workshop is complete will not receive CE credit. Partial credit may not be given.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received on/before April 26, 2019, will receive a 90% refund. Cancellations received between April 27- May 5, 2019, will receive a 50% refund and cancellations between May 6 - 7, 2019 will receive a 20% refund.   No refunds available after May 8, 2019. All refund requests must be in writing to [email protected]

CE Credits/Attendance

Each workshop of the May 10th program has been approved for 3 CE credits by the Kentucky Psychological Association (KPA).
