Board Member Bio Sketch
Jennifer Price, Ph.D. (Education and Training Interest Section Representative)

Brief Bio: I am an Associate Professor of Psychology at Georgetown College. I have a PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Arkansas, and I attended Transylvania University for my undergraduate degree in psychology. Before coming to Georgetown in 2004, I worked at the National Center for PTSD in White River Junction, Vermont. My research interests include reactions to traumatic life events, mental illness stigma, and therapy outcomes.

As a Board Member, what do you find the most rewarding- or what are you most hoping to accomplish?: My main goal is to ensure that undergraduate programs are adequately preparing students for graduate school and future careers in psychology. I also want to ensure that educators and clinical supervisors get the support they need from KPA and from each other to be successful.

Why did you decide to become involved as a leader within KPA?: I am hoping to establish stronger connections with other psychologists involved in education and training in the state of Kentucky.

How did you end up in psychology?: When I took my first psychology class at Transylvania University, I was hooked! I already knew at that time that I wanted to teach, but had not yet found an area I was passionate about. When I discovered psychology, my career path became clear.

What type of work do you do?: I teach at the undergraduate level - courses in clinical psychology such as abnormal psychology and counseling skills. I also conduct research and support students in their independent research.

What do you like best about it?: I love connecting with students and challenging them to think critically about everything they encounter.

What do you like least about it?: Grading papers - but even that is not so bad. I simply love being a professor.

Is this what you thought you'd be doing when you graduated?: Yes, absolutely.

What do you do for fun or to relax?: I like to play with my children, read, and stay active with things like Zumba fitness and running.
