NATIONAL ALLIANCE OF THE MENTALLY ILL (NAMI): The following are support group meetings offered to the mentally ill and their families throughout the state of Kentucky

 

NAMI Bowling Green

Support Groups and Meetings

Meetings are the 3rd Monday of each month at 624 Eastwood Ave. Support groups for persons with mental illness & family members both begin at 7pm(CT). Business mtg begins at 5:30pm. Contact: Marty Harrison at 270-842-5687.

 

NAMI Danville

Support Groups and Meetings

Meetings are the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of each month at 7pm at Trinity Episcopal Church, Fireside Room, Main St, Danville. Meetings are devoted to a short educational program followed by support group sessions for consumers & family members. Members are encouraged to attend board meetings. Persons with a mental illness, their families/friends, and others concerned with mental illness are invited. Contact: Lois Anderson at 859-236-3970.

 

NAMI Frankfort

Support Groups and Meetings

NAMI Madisonville

Support Groups and Meetings

Meetings are held the 1st Thursday of the month from 6-7:30 pm at the United Way Bldg., 254 E. Center St., Madisonville. Contact: April Schmitt, 270-821-1188.

 

NAMI Purchase

Support Groups and Meetings

The Paducah-area group meets at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, on the corner of Broadway and 27th Street in Paducah, every Thursday at 7pm (except holidays). Consumers & family members meet together, then have separate meetings. For info, call Karla Rasche, 270-442-9224.

Family-to-Family Education

Currently, two classes are being taught simultaneously by the Garatt’s. F2F classes fill up quickly. For info and to be put on the list for future classes, contact Marcia and Paul Garatt at 270-442-1229, or gpaul@writeme.com.

 

NAMI Lexington

Support Groups and Meetings

Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month from 2:30-4:00 pm at Bluegrass Career Services, 1165 Centre Pkwy. Meetings on the 1st Sunday of the month may feature a guest speaker. Persons with a mental illness, their family and friends, and those in the community concerned with mental illness are invited. For more information, call 859-272-7891 or 859-266-3448. We are near the end of both F2F classes being taught in Lexington and Winchester. The next class will start in May.

We are sad to report the death of Louise Banta’s husband, Joe. (Louise is our Board treasurer). He had long suffered with illness and was a friend to all of us...we will miss him.

 

NAMI Northern Kentucky

Support Groups and Meetings

Support group meets the 4th Monday of the month, 7pm, Erlanger Baptist Church, 116 Commonwealth Ave., Christian Life Center (addition at rear of Educ. Bldg), Room 107. Contact Joanna Noonan, 859-647-9487, for info.

 

NAMI Hopkinsville

Support Groups and Meetings

Meetings are the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 6-7:30 pm at the Jennie Stuart Medical Center, Doctors Pavilion, Lower Level Conf Rms A & B. This group is in great need of participation. Contacts: Charlotte Cannon, 270-886-5163, and April Schmitt, 270-821-1188.

 

NAMI Murray

Support Groups and Meetings

Meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm in private dining rooms 1&2 at the Murray Calloway Co. Hospital. Two separate support groups for family members and persons with a mental illness are held immediately after the meeting from 7-8 pm. NAMI Henderson

NAMI Louisville

Support Groups and Meetings

Members Meetings  (various speakers each month)

2nd Monday of each month at 7pm., at Beargrass Christian Church, Rm 207, 4100 Shelbyville Rd (at Browns Ln).

Support Groups

A group specifically for parents of children and adolescents with brain disorders meets the 1st Monday of each month at 7pm at St. Joseph Children’s Home, 2823 Frankfort Ave.

Louisville Support Group – South meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7pm at the Caritas Medical Center in the Atrium Room, 1850 Bluegrass Ave.

Louisville Support Group – East meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7pm, and the 4th Sunday of each month at 2:30 pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 9212 Taylorsville Rd (at Old Six Mile Ln).

Family-to-Family Education

A free 10-week course for families and friends of individuals with a major mental illness. Call 245-5287 for information or to register for next course.

Board Meetings (open to all members)

1st Monday of each month at 7pm at Seven Counties Services, Developmental Services, 3717 Taylorsville Road.

Consumer Activities (Social Club)

Various activities, usually the 3rd Sunday of each month. To join or receive information about the activities, call 245-5287.

 

NAMI Mt. Sterling

Support Groups and Meetings

Meetings are held twice a month on Sundays at 2 pm. Call Ernest Bean, 859-498-1305, for information and location details.

 

NAMI Heartland

Support Groups and Meetings

Business/informational meetings will be held the 2nd Thursday of February, May, August, & November. Support Group meetings are the 4th Thursday of the month for consumers and caregivers. All meetings begin at 7:00pm (ET) and are held at Communicare Bldg B, 1311 Dixie Hwy in ETown.
